2024 Ram 1500 Overview
The Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup with three engine options. The base powertrain includes a 3.6-liter engine with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. A 5.7-liter V-8 option is available if you’d like to boost the output to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the top TRX trim, you’ll get a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
You can choose from two cargo beds and cab options in most trims detailed below. The short cargo bed is 5 feet, 7 inches, while the long one measures 6 feet, 4 inches. The quad cab has smaller back doors and a modest legroom in the second row. The crew cab has full-sized rear doors and much more legroom, making it a good choice if you regularly transport adult passengers in the second row for longer periods.
The Ram 1500 can tow a maximum load of 12,750 pounds. To reach this limit, you’ll want to opt for the 5.7-liter V-8 engine, the long cargo bed, and the quad cab. If you prefer hauling loads in your cargo box, the Ram 1500 can handle up to 2,300 pounds with the base engine and long cargo bed. It’s worth noting that the 5.7-liter V-8 is available in all trims as an optional upgrade and comes standard in the Limited trim.
Tradesman
The base Tradesman trim rides on 18-inch steel wheels. Inside the cabin, you can look forward to cloth or vinyl upholstery. There’s a 5-inch touch screen and six-speaker stereo for your infotainment system. Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and a rearview camera. You can add optional upgrades such as 20-inch wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a spray-on bed liner.
The Tradesman comes with standard rear-wheel drive, but you can get a four-wheel-drive version if you choose the Warlock package. It’s an off-roading setup that increases the ride height of your Ram and adds extra equipment to help you cope with rough terrain. Consider the Tow package if you plan on doing a lot of towing. It adds a Class IV tow hitch, a trailer brake, power-adjustable mirrors for the trailer, and a reverse steering control.
Tradesman HFE
This trim gives you a couple of upgraded touches compared to the base model. For example, you get side steps to make getting in and out of the cab easier, a bed cover, and 20-inch chrome alloy wheels. The only bed and cab configuration available with this trim is the quad cab and long bed.
Big Horn
The Big Horn’s cab feels slightly more upscale with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and cloth upholstery. You can also add heated front seats and a heated steering wheel for comfort. This Ram rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and offers more storage options in the cab thanks to its 60/40 folding rear row. There’s also a longer list of optional items for you, such as a 12-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker stereo, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Laramie
The Laramie is available with the crew cab only. It includes power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, and heated and ventilated front seats. You also gain LED headlights and a 10-speaker stereo. An air suspension, heated and reclining second-row seats, and a sunroof are among your options. The Advanced Safety Group includes many driver-assistance features, such as stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, a surround-view parking camera, and blind-spot monitoring.
Rebel
The Rebel is a great choice for off-roaders because it has standard four-wheel drive. You also get various off-roading features, including an electronic locking rear differential and a lifted suspension. Remember that you can only get this trim with the crew cab and shorter cargo bed.
Limited Longhorn
The Limited Longhorn is fitted with heated and reclining second-row seats. You also get a power tailgate, 20-inch wheels, and side steps. You can only choose the crew cab with this trim.
Limited
The Limited is a great choice if you want a truck with a luxury cabin. It gains power side steps and premium leather upholstery. The standard air suspension will also improve your comfortable ride. The infotainment system gains a larger 12-inch screen and wireless device charging. If you want more, you can add an automated parking system or a premium 19-speaker stereo as optional upgrades.
TRX
The TRX stands out from all other trims with its supercharged V-8 engine, which gives it the additional power to move swiftly off the line and haul heavy loads. In addition to this 702-horsepower monster, you gain four-wheel drive, launch control, and an upgraded suspension. An engine cooling system helps ensure the best performance from the big V-8. If that’s not enough to excite you, you can add a spare tire holder in the cargo bed and the RamBar light bar.
